Srđa Brajović (44) from Podgorica will spend five months in house arrest, because he drunkenly hit a girl at a pedestrian crossing at the end of last year and ran away.
So Brajović settled with the prosecution two days ago, and the court accepted their agreement yesterday.
With the plea agreement, Brajović was sentenced to four months in prison for a serious crime against traffic safety and two months in prison for failing to provide assistance to a person injured in a traffic accident, so he was sentenced to a single sentence of five months in prison, which he will serve in residential premises.
A prison sentence of one to eight years is provided for that offense, while failure to provide assistance is punishable by a fine or up to two years in prison.
The prosecutor's office, as well as the court, decided that, considering that he is a family man, the father of two children and has no previous convictions, he should serve his sentence under house arrest.
The 13 days he spent in custody will be deducted from his sentence.
He is accused of hitting a girl with the front of his car at the pedestrian crossing on Cetinjska put on December 7 last year and causing her serious injuries.
He is also accused of running away from the scene of the accident after hitting the child.
After hitting the child, he fled the scene of the accident, but was soon found and arrested.
In the indictment, it is written that at that time he had over two parts per thousand of alcohol in his blood.
According to "Vijesti" information, the girl came out of the coma and is now fine.
Only the injured parties, in this case, have the right to appeal the settlement and the court's verdict.
