The popular service for Internet telephony "Skype" announced that during the week it will introduce advertising within its application for the Windows operating system.
For now, the ads will only appear to users in the UK, Germany and the United States.
By introducing advertising, "Skype" will try to increase revenues ahead of the public offering of shares that is expected later this year, through which it plans to raise about 100 million dollars.
Groupon, Nokia, Universal Pictures and Visa are among the first companies to advertise on Skype.
According to the data from the form for the public offer, "Skype" in the first half of last year generated an income of over 400 million dollars.
