The union of doctors of medicine (SDM) told the director of the Clinical Center (KC), Zorica Kovačević, that she directly threatened the work of certain clinics and departments, and she replied that they were telling lies, disturbing citizens and destabilizing the work of that institution.
SDM president Milena Popović Samardžić accused Kovačević of becoming "an accomplice to the chaos created by incompetent and ill-intentioned people."
The director of the KC retorted that the SDM is denying themselves, because "they are caught in a circle with colleagues who have the least right to tell anyone about their professional engagement and attitude towards their colleagues".
Due to the baby swapping scandal, Kovačević previously dismissed the director of the Clinic for Gynecology, Vojislav Miketić, and the head and head nurse of the Department for term newborns, Azra Begović and Anđelka Dujović. After that, four heads of departments from different clinics and the head nurse of the Gynecology Clinic submitted their resignations.
"KC does not have a director of gynecology, a director of pregnancy pathology, a head of the fetal medicine department, a head of high-risk pregnancy, a head nurse of gynecology, no director of the operating block in the Institute of Children's Diseases (IBD), no head of endocrinology, head of nephrology, head for pulmonology in IBD", it was announced from SDM. Kovačević said that the departments for fetal medicine and high-risk pregnancy have not been formed yet, so they cannot even have heads. "As for the head of the operating block in the IBD, after the resignation of Velibor Majić for personal reasons, he is managed by the director of the Children's Surgical Clinic, Arif Bajmak.
The heads of two departments in IBD, Slađana Radulović and Snežana Pavićević, were the last to resign. Pavićević stated that it was a matter of disagreement with an organization that puts individual doctors and patients at risk, while IBD director Sonja Milašinović announced a lawsuit against her and Majić. Kovačević said that since yesterday, the departments to which the two doctors resigned have been managed by the director of the Pediatric Clinic, Draško Nikčević.
