SMCG: The attack on Tadić-Mijović is one of the many indicators of the environment in which Montenegrin journalists work.

The Media Union of Montenegro (SMCG) strongly condemns the attack on journalist and director of the Center for Investigative Journalism of Montenegro Milka Tadić-Mijović and calls on the competent authorities to adequately punish the perpetrator.

Director of the Center for Investigative Journalism, Milka Tadić-Mijović, was verbally attacked last night, around 20:XNUMX p.m., in the parking lot of the Voli megamarket in Petrovac.

Due to insults and numerous threats, the Budva police arrested a security person of interest, Boško Filipović (56).

"This attack is another of the many indicators of the environment in which Montenegrin journalists work, especially those engaged in investigative journalism. This year alone, 14 cases of attacks, threats, insults and belittling of journalists have been recorded, which shows that the situation is only getting worse. Therefore, it is high time that the key decision-makers, the Government and the Parliament of Montenegro, finally do something about better legal protection of journalists from attacks and accept the demands of journalist associations, non-governmental organizations and media unions for stronger criminal-legal protection of journalists, in order to try to prevent such attacks.
