Podgorica/Banja Luka/Belgrade, 17.03.2023 - The competition for high school students in creating applications for mobile devices was held for the sixth time this year, and students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro participated in it. The organizers of the competition are members of the Telekom Srbija group - Telekom Srbija, m:tel BiH and:tel Montenegro, and this year the regional competition was hosted by m:tel BiH.
On March 16, five teams each from the mentioned countries presented their winning applications to the competition jury via video conference, since this year the competition was also held online. The expert jury declared the best applications: the application "Digital Farmer" of the "Monotik Digital" team from the Gradiška Technical School (BiH), application The "Need" of the "Intelecto" team from the Secondary Electro-Economic School from Bijelo Polje (Montenegro) and the application "Take Your Turn" of the "Macrohard" team from the "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" Gymnasium from Novi Sad (Serbia).
The special award for innovation "The power of innovation - Igor Osmokrović", which is awarded every year to the team for the particularly innovative application and the most interesting idea, this time went to the team "Tower Power" from Boljai Gymnasium from Senta (Serbia) for the application "Tower Defense Game".
In accordance with the intensive support for the integration of young people into the digital community, the directors of the companies within the Telekom Srbija Group sent their congratulations to the winning teams and all the students who participated in the project, via video message.
Tatjana Mandić, Executive Director of m:tel expressed her joy that this project traditionally connects people with the same vision and shows the readiness of talented high school students to practically apply the knowledge acquired at school. "As a socially responsible company, MTEL continuously creates an ideal environment for the production of ideas and the initiation of business plans in the field of information technology. We are convinced that such initiatives are the best way to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in young people, because they allow them to improve their professional skills for some future occupations in the IT sector," said Mandić and told the young programmers: "Regardless of the placement in today's competition, you have a reason to rejoice because with your work you won the chance to show what you know and what your potentials are", stressing that the Telekom Srbija group, i.e. m:tel Montenegro, will follow their further achievements with pleasure.
In order to congratulate all the participants of this regional competition, as well as to greet everyone who participated in its organization, general manager of Telekom Srbija Vladimir Lučić he sent the message that the Telekom Srbija group strives to give young people a chance, to encourage them to develop their ideas and preferences, so that one day they themselves become initiators of positive changes in their environment. "Along with the progress we are making with the development of modern services, adapted to the needs of users and expansion into new markets, we continue to provide support to the community in which we operate, and aware of the importance, we invest especially in the education and development of young generations. We see in you drivers of the development of society, because through the applications you develop, you bring new ideas that enrich everyday life and make it easier to find your way in the modern world of fast communications," said Vladimir Lučić.
On behalf of the host company, on behalf of m:tel Bosnia and Herzegovina, she greeted the participants, mentors and jury via video message. general director Jelena Trivan, who said that this year um:tel BiH received an unprecedented number of applications, that some of the competitors are participating for the 4th year in a row and that the competition will be very fierce, which shows that the interest in this competition is developing. The winners of the sixth Regional app challenge will be presented with prizes in the form of valuable IT equipment, and the team members and their mentor, whose application the jury rated as the most innovative, will receive prestigious mobile phones.
The companies within the Telekom Srbija Group will continue to base their socially responsible operations on the practice of organizing such and similar competitions, in terms of encouraging young people to deal with real values and invest their time in acquiring new knowledge.
