The vice-president of Democratic Montenegro, Momo Koprivica, claims that the leader of that party, Aleksa Bečić, did not plagiarize his master's thesis and that there was no concealment of the use of literature and other people's works.
"Bečić's master's thesis "The influence of the capital market on corporate governance in Montenegro" is written on 113 pages and contains 75 footnotes and 49 sources, from which it follows that it is a serious scientific and research endeavor. There was no concealment of the use of literature and other people's works. According to all criteria generally accepted in the scientific community, the work is more serious because it contains more quotes and paraphrases of other credible authors, because it speaks of the quality and scope of scientific research," he said. He said that it is grossly untrue that Bečić took the ideas, findings and thoughts of another author while concealing the source.
"He was accused of taking someone else's, and he put two footnotes in this regard on pages 14 and 15, from which it follows that the author did not hide the use of literature, he listed the complete text in footnotes, one of which is only on the second page due to a break. In connection with the following statement, which refers to the marked part on pages 19 and 20, Bečić cited the author in the bibliography, and he proves this with maximum concrete and accurate indications of the source from which that part was legitimately quoted, which again that he was not hiding anything, but pointed to the source," said Koprivica.
Koprivica said that the research presented yesterday allegedly used Turniti software, however, according to experts, that software is not in itself for plagiarism detection, but only for checking the correctness of citations:
"After all, this is what the author and co-organizer of the fraud stated in the mentioned research in the form of a note. It is clear that they wanted to protect themselves from possible criminal prosecution with a perfidious fence. They classified the quotes as plagiarism, which is a classic fraud and manipulation," said the vice president of the Democrats.
Koprivica repeated today that everything is part of the election campaign of the Democratic Front (DF), but not for the opposition to win, but for it to lose to Milo Đukanović and that this "confirms the direct participation of the DF campaign manager and the son of MP Feđa Pavlović in this heinous campaign".
"That the synchronization between the DF and DPS is very well planned, is also shown by the posts supporting this fake research on the Facebook pages, which are administered from Duško Marković's cabinet," said Koprivica.
He said that the NGO Center for Academic Integrity is not a non-governmental organization, but an association of fraudsters, with the aim of compromising Bečić.
"This shameful association of fraudsters sends a shameful message that the works of DPS officials that they allegedly took into account during the research are perfectly fine, just not the work of the president of the strongest opposition party. You have hundreds of those from DPS who bought diplomas, but there is no mention of them in the research," said Koprivica.
He said that the directed play was supported by Udba and the media under the complete control of the DF, in order to blackmail the Democrats and to tell them that "if you will not join us on the joint list, look at what we are ready for and be sure that we will stage more of this kind of subterfuge".
Koprivica said that the work of Mica Kozlik, a person "who is suspected of having participated in a fraud that caused distress to the company and workers in Republika Srpska", is being compared to Bečić's work.
"Her work was published in October 2015, six years after the stated date of the defense and even 20 months after the defense of Aleksa Bečić's work. With all other authors whose work was published on the website of this private university, there is the possibility of downloading the work in electronic form. Very symptomatically, that option does not exist only for Kozlik," said Koprivica.
