Thanks to the innovative ICT solutions of Crnogorski Telekom, the first two smart parking lots in Montenegro were opened in the streets of Miljan Vukov and Novak Milošev in the center of Podgorica. This marked the beginning of the application of the smart city concept, which Crnogorski Telekom develops and implements as a leader in the digitalization process.

Director of the Sector for Business Users of Crnogorski Telekom, Predrag Perković, expressed his satisfaction that, in cooperation with Parking Service Podgorica, the first Smart City solution was implemented in the capital. By implementing this solution, Telekom has once again shown that it is a technological leader and the bearer of the development of innovative solutions in the field of ICT.

He emphasized that the concept of smart parking will make it easier and faster to find a parking space, as well as reduce traffic jams and thus the emission of harmful gases.

"We note that this is just the beginning of the development of a smart city and is a pilot project, which should show its true strength and meaning when this kind of system is applied on a larger territory of the city. I hope that we will have this and other Smart City solutions quickly implemented in other cities in Montenegro as well," concluded Perković.

The Smart parking system provides insight into the occupancy of parking spaces. It works on the principle of a sensor to indicate whether the parking space is occupied. At the entrance, there is a digital information board that shows the number of free parking spaces at all times, which saves drivers time in searching for a parking space. In addition, drivers have the option of downloading a mobile application to search for a free parking space.

In addition to the basic functionality, the administrators of the parking service in Podgorica will have the ability to monitor the payment of parking spaces in real time, as well as the ability to optimize resources for parking payment control.

This project brings a number of benefits for the city and citizens, such as reducing traffic congestion, low maintenance costs of the parking system, lower energy consumption, and the like.
