The "Inspired by nature" initiative, judging by the number of discarded old mobile phones in branches, is gradually winning the hearts of Crnogorski Telekom users, which is why the campaign will be relevant in the coming period as well.
Until the end of September, along with the old phone, you will receive a plant as a gift!
"Users can bring their old phones and put them in special boxes at Telekom branches, in return they get a plant as a gift - a small, green sign of attention, 10 GB per device and the feeling that we are doing the right thing together", they say from Telekom.
Disposal of old mobile phones in Telekom branches means that the devices will be handed over to licensed agencies, which treat e-waste in an environmentally friendly way.
"We are satisfied with the response, considering the previous period and we believe that this is just the beginning. Electrical and electronic waste are the fastest growing category of waste in the EU, they most often end up in landfills and without further treatment have an extremely negative impact on the environment. That's why we invite you to do everything we can together, in order to preserve a green living environment for future generations!", emphasized Telekom.

Discounts on certain mobile phone models are also available to users who decide to dispose of old and damaged mobile devices in one of the branches and need a new phone. More detailed information about the models for which the eco discount is valid can be found at link.

According to the estimates of the International Forum on Electrical and Electronic Waste (WEEE), In 2022, approximately 5,3 billion mobile phones worldwide ended up as e-waste, of which less than 20% are recycled!
Survey by the WEEE Forum (June - September 2023) shows that the average European household owns 70+ electronic devices, including phones, tablets, laptops, of which it keeps nine unused and four broken devices.
The results also reveal five main reasons why old and unused devices "collect dust":
- 46% plan to use these devices again;
- 15% are thinking of selling or giving them away;
- 13% keep devices for their sentimental value;
- 9% believe that devices could gain in value over time and
- 7% simply do not know how to dispose of them properly.
And in the end, do we really use old devices again, sell them, give them away... or do they continue to gather dust?

For years, Crnogorski Telekom has been investing in the ESG concept of sustainable business, which entails monitoring a number of factors related to environmental protection, social responsibility and corporate governance.
At Telekom, we use 100% electricity from renewable sources. By purchasing certificates on the international market and paying for electricity at a green tariff, from 2020 we reduced C02 emissions by 7.000t, i.e. by 90%, which is the equivalent of planting several tens of thousands of trees!
By implementing modern systems and technologies in the Data Center through cloudification projects, modernization of cooling devices, then by introducing the free cooling principle of cooling in remote locations and switching off legacy technologies, such as 3G, further reduced energy consumption.
CO2 reduction in Crnogorski Telekom is implemented through a number of other company activities. During the previous three years, more than 110 tons of waste were disposed of in the prescribed manner and in addition to optimizations, which are the result of a high level of digitalization of internal and external processes, significant savings in paper consumption were also achieved (75% of our users use an electronic account).
