The Tax Administration will write off the entire amount of interest to debtors who pay their obligations within the deadline in accordance with the decisions on reprogramming, they told "Vijesta" from PU. The conditions for interest write-off are acquired, as they explained, upon the expiration of the obligation's due date.
Several tax debtors, who are in the reprogramming (individuals), complained to "Vijesti" that their interest was not written off, and in the decisions they still have the amount they should pay on that basis. They say that they are worried that they will have to pay that too, even though the PU announced that the interest will be written off.
"In accordance with the provisions of the Law on reprogramming, taxpayers who settle their tax claims within the deadlines and in the manner established by the decision on reprogramming will be charged off the entire recorded interest," stated the PU headed by director Miomir M. Mugoša. They explain that the decisions provide for the due date of the obligations based on the number of installments, i.e. the time frame in which the debt is settled, so the conditions for writing off the interest are acquired after the due date of the obligations, "when it will also be written off to taxpayers who pay off the reprogrammed tax debt". The PU said that taxpayers can come to the premises of the PU to look at their card and thus eliminate all doubts.
According to the data, 33.020.947,6 euros have been collected from the PU through the reprogramming of the tax debt. Of this, EUR 2017 was collected in 24.254.793,86, and EUR 8.766.153,74 in the first five months.
When asked when they will start applying measures against debtors who do not respect the reprogramming and which debtors they are, the PU replied that so far the decision on reprogramming has been canceled for about 750 debtors. "The PU immediately started implementing enforcement measures against these taxpayers, bearing in mind that with the cancellation of the reprogram, their entire tax debt became due. These taxpayers are also subject to inspection, as one of the measures before the initiation of bankruptcy proceedings, through which, depending on the source of income, at least part of the tax debt could be collected," said the PU. At this moment, as they added, PU is preparing documentation for 25 debtors for whom a proposal for opening bankruptcy will be submitted.
"The cancellation of the decision on rescheduling and the application of measures for the collection of obligations will be undertaken continuously during the entire five-year period of application of this legal solution", said the PU. The tax debt at the end of 2017, according to official data, amounted to 450,74 million euros.
