The Government of Montenegro must pay special attention to the protection of Tara, based on the Declaration of the Parliament of Montenegro from 2004, according to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). In the SDP's amendments to the proposal of the Declaration of the Parliamentary Committee of the European Union and Montenegro for Stabilization and Association (POSP), it warns that the protection of Tara must be a priority for the authorities. The declaration on the protection of Tara, which was adopted by the parliament, permanently prohibited any interventions or works in the river canyon.
"We call on the authorities to pay special attention to the protection of the Tara River, based on the Resolution of the Parliament of Montenegro from 2004, bearing in mind credible claims and evidence that inappropriate devastation of the bed of the Tara River, which is under UNESCO protection, is being carried out on one part of the construction of the highway", it is stated in the SDP amendments.
European and Montenegrin parliamentarians will discuss the proposal for the POSP Declaration in Strasbourg on November 14 and 15, and the Declaration proposal, among other things, indicates the lack of results in the fight against organized crime and corruption, as well as unresolved attacks on journalists. The SDP amendments state that corruption is present in many areas and warn that the initial balance of achieved results must be consolidated.
"It calls for the resolution of the Marović case, in which there are still no conditions for the execution of a final verdict, which renders the process for high corruption meaningless, undermines the credibility of the state and its institutions, and creates a perception among citizens of the impunity of the highest state officials until recently," the amendments state. and expresses his dissatisfaction with the fact that even half a year after the armed attack on "Vijesti" journalist Olivera Lakić, there are no tangible results in the investigation of the case.
"This creates a dangerous climate of general insecurity in the operation of free and critical media. We call on the competent authorities to effectively investigate and process these cases, giving them priority in their work, especially those where there is a risk of obsolescence, because functional, professional and truly independent media represent a key aspect of media pluralism," it said.
In the SDP, they request that the text of the Declaration warn about the recent changes in the RTCG and indicate that through the work of the temporary parliamentary committee, conditions will be created for changes to the Law governing the work of the Public Service, including the change in the method of election of the RTCG Council and the election of a new Council of the RTCG. They called on the highest state representatives not to discourage the work of NGOs using inappropriate qualifications for their work.
