As part of the electrification of the auto industry, the American Ford is forced to invest in production capacity.
This is particularly noticeable in the commercial program, which Ford has decided to electrify most of them by 2024, reports B92.
Namely, they expect that two-thirds of sales in the commercial program will be plug-in hybrids and electric versions. Ford will therefore invest an additional 300 million dollars in its production facilities in Craiova, Romania, all in order to prepare for the launch of a completely new model.
That model should arrive on the market in 2023, and an electric version will arrive a year later. This will make it the third Ford factory capable of producing electric models. Before that, they became factories in Germany and Turkey.
Since 2008, when Ford became the owner of the factory in Romania, as much as two billion dollars have been invested in its modernization and expansion. In the last few years alone, over 600 robots have been installed, facilitating production activities for six thousand workers.
In that factory, among others, the new Puma, a very successful model on the market, is produced.
