German car giant Volkswagen (VW) has announced that it will completely halt production in Wolfsburg for two weeks due to a shortage of semiconductors.
VW has announced that it will completely stop production of all vehicles in its home city of Wolfsburg between October 2 and 13, Norddeutscher Rundfunk (GDR) radio and television reported.
About 20 thousand employees will work part-time. Production will also be halted for 12 days at factories in Emden, Hanover and Osnabrück.
VW only planned to cut production by three quarters this week.
