Low-interest financing, favorable leasing contracts, price reductions and free battery charging only brought the first increase of this year's deliveries of the American manufacturer of electric vehicles "Tesla" in the third quarter.
That company from Austin, Texas, announced today that from July to September, it delivered 462.890 vehicles on credit with an interest rate of only 1,99 percent or on leasing with a monthly installment of $ 299 of its cheapest "Model 3". In the same period last year, 435.059 vehicles were delivered.
However, the actions of "Tesla Inc." have fallen sharply today, almost by four percent.
Deliveries are "good and a step in the right direction," wrote Dan Ives of analyst firm Wedbush, but noted that there will be pressure on stocks as investors hope for something better.
Tesla has struggled for most of the year to sell its rapidly aging models, all the more so because the growth of sales of electric vehicles in the US and Europe has slowed due to concerns about the insufficient range of these vehicles, their high prices and modest options for recharging batteries while traveling.
The drop in sales at the beginning of this year has led to once unheard of discounts for this car manufacturer, which has reduced the profit margins by which it leads the auto industry.
Analysts estimated that the average selling price of a "Tesla" vehicle in the third quarter was $42.500, which is the lowest in four years.
Overall, the decline in sales of "Tesla" is a consequence of stronger competition from other manufacturers.
Almost all of Tesla's sales are made up of the smaller and cheaper models "3" and "I", while the company sold only 22.915 of its more expensive "X" and "S" car models and the "Cybertruck" pickup truck.
Wedbush analyst Dan Ives told investors Tuesday that Tesla's third-quarter sales will bring a recovery as sales in China grow and price and demand stabilize.
However, in Europe, the outlook for sales growth is still weak with macroeconomic pressures, and demand in the US should stabilize, according to Ives.
Tesla should present a dedicated "robot taxi" next Sunday.
