Japanese carmaker Nissan is planning to cut another 10.000 jobs worldwide, Japanese media reported after the automaker announced in November that it would cut 9.000 jobs.
Public broadcaster NHK reported that by laying off a total of 19.000 people, Nissan's workforce would be reduced by about 15 percent.
Nissan declined to comment on the information about the new layoffs, which was also reported by the business daily Nikei.
Nissan is scheduled to announce results for fiscal year 2024-25 tomorrow.
The Japanese carmaker is expected to announce a record annual loss, which is forecast to reach 4,6 billion euros due to a painful restructuring.
The poor results followed the collapse of Nissan's merger talks with Honda and at a time of increased US tariffs.
Nissan warned in April that it expected an unprecedented net loss of "between 700 billion and 750 billion yen" (4,25 billion euros to 4,5 billion euros).
