Nikšić and Podgorica: Three people suspected of illegal trade in cigarettes and tobacco

The Nikšić police searched the apartment and other premises in two locations in Nikšić used by GD (25) from Nikšić, the Police Administration announced today.

"During a search at one location, the police found and seized 1.930 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps, while during a search at another location, they found and confiscated 1.110 packs of cigarettes, also without excise stamps," the Police Administration said in a statement.

The announcement adds that the total value of the confiscated cigarettes is over 3.000 euros.

"During the forensic analysis, the police officers came to suspect that the found cigarettes belonged to SD (59) from Nikšić, who is a relative of GD. The competent state prosecutor was informed about the event, who ordered that a criminal complaint be filed against SD in the regular procedure due to the existence of a well-founded suspicion that she committed the criminal offense of illegal trade," said the Police Administration.

The announcement also states that the Podgorica police searched the apartment used by VR (51) from Podgorica.

"On that occasion, the police officers found and seized three packs of different types of cigarettes without excise stamps, worth 2.127 euros. The competent prosecutor was informed about the event, who ordered that VR be arrested and brought to his attention with a criminal complaint due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that he committed a criminal offense an act of illegal trade," said the Police Directorate.

The Podgorica police also found and seized about 22 kilograms of cut tobacco by checking the vehicle driven by MS (60).

"The state prosecutor in the ODT in Podgorica was informed about the event, who ordered that MS be arrested and brought to his custody with a criminal complaint due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of illegal trade," concludes the statement of the Police Administration.
