At the level crossing in the town of Straševina, in Nikšić, today around 14,15:80 p.m., there was an accident in which VJ from Nikšić (645), who was driving a "Golf II" (NK AU XNUMX), suffered minor injuries.
He collided with a passenger train that was moving from Nikšić to Podgorica. Residents of Straševina said that the ramp was down at the time of the accident. The man from Nikšić was taken to the General Hospital after the accident.
As the director of the hospital, Dr. Ilija Ašanin, told "Vijesta", VJ was released for home treatment after assistance and diagnostic tests.
The investigation was carried out by members of the Nikšić Security Center with the presence of traffic experts.
Traffic accidents are frequent at the mentioned level crossing. Unfortunately, some of them had a fatal outcome.
Railway transport announced that this extraordinary event caused the interruption of rail traffic on the route Podgorica - Nikšić, that is, the cancellation of the train from Nikšić to Podgorica departing at 14:12 p.m. Traffic was restored at 15:35 p.m. when the investigation by the police and the prosecutor's office was completed. The damage caused to the electric train will be determined later by expert commissions.
"Railway transport of Montenegro uses this opportunity to once again warn road vehicle drivers to strictly follow the rules at level crossings where the train has the right of way, especially as in this case where the negligent driver tried to cross the level crossing with the ramp down, which threatened the safety and lives of all road users," the company announced.
