The Special Prosecutor's Office brought to an end another in a series of investigations against the fugitive president of the Atlas Group, Duško Knežević, so the second indictment against him will be submitted to the High Court in the coming days.
As Televizija Vijesti has learned, it is a case known to the public as "Karbon", where Knežević is suspected of evading 1,9 million euros in taxes through IBM Bank together with his associates. And his associates are suspects: Brankica and Biljana Bašović, Đorđe Đurđić and Marko Nikolić.
During the conference held at the end of January, the Prosecutor's Office explained in an elaborate scheme how IBM and Atlas Bank, through "Global Carbon", provided credit to a number of related persons and companies for the purchase of carbon.
As it was announced at the time, Knežević is suspected of having created a criminal plan to form legal entities on the territory of Montenegro, whose founders are related legal entities and commercial banks that invest their own funds in these legal entities, which will be used in an illegal manner.
"By means of credit agreements, fixed-term deposits, loans and the purchase and sale of shares, those funds will be illegally transferred to other related legal entities, while he assigned himself the role of giving instructions to the members of the criminal organization about the actions that are related to the aforementioned legal affairs should undertake, and the members of the criminal organization, in order to implement the criminal plan, by implementing the instructions of the organizers of the criminal group, undertook actions that caused damage to the founder of IBM and the legal entity GK, and obtained illegal financial benefits from the legal entities FI, AG, RTV, RTM, ASB, and MGIHL in the total amount of EUR 1.942.000,00", the Prosecutor's Office announced on January 21 of this year.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the carbon was never purchased, the loans ended up as deposits of related legal entities in France, and thus the payment of taxes and contributions was avoided.
