Marko Šofranac from Podgorica was sent to the Spuška Remand Prison, after the police found two pistols in the bar where he was staying.

The investigating judge of the Podgorica Basic Court, Miladin Pejović, ordered him to be detained for up to 30 days, accepting the proposal of the Higher Prosecutor's Office, which suspects him of having committed the criminal offense of illegal possession of weapons and explosive substances.

Judge Pejović explained that the well-founded suspicion that Šofranac committed a criminal offense stems primarily from the official note of the Sector for the Fight against Organized Crime and Corruption, whose officers arrested Podgorica on August 22.

Podgoričanin's defense attorney, lawyer Damir Lekić, told "Vijesta" that the reason for ordering custody was the danger of repeating the criminal offense, because Šofranac has already been convicted three times for the same criminal offense.

He pointed out that he filed an appeal against Judge Pejović's decision, asking that Šofranc's detention be lifted, because he was unjustly ordered.

"The appeal has not yet been decided, and I appealed, primarily, because there is no reasonable suspicion that he committed a criminal offense, given that the pistols were not found in his possession, but at a certain, slightly greater distance from him, in a tavern , which is a public place and where a large number of people stay every day, which was also the case on that occasion," Lekić said.

He added that it was obvious that the police did not go into details.

"His name alone was enough for them to connect him with those weapons," said lawyer Lekić.
