Suspects arrested for killing a bear on Bioč

On suspicion of having killed a bear in Bioče, the police arrested Ž.L. (48), NM (54), DR (41), NP (44) and MV (54).

"After learning about the event, the police went to the scene and, on the order of the competent prosecutor, conducted an on-site investigation. Officers from the Podgorica Gamekeepers' Organization and an expert from the Veterinary Inspection were also present at the scene," the Police Administration announced.

It is suspected that the suspects killed the bear and, after noticing the gamekeepers, moved away from the scene.

"Eight rifles with weapons certificates were taken from these persons and they were forwarded to the Forensic Center for further expert examination. Further police-prosecutor measures and actions are continuing with the aim of identifying the person who used the firearm and killed the bear," it concludes.

The police remind that bears are a protected species in Montenegro.
