Eight citizens of Taiwan were sent to the Investigation Prison in Spuška, due to the suspicion that they were the organizers of a criminal group that held more than 90 compatriots in slavery in Montenegro, who committed internet fraud for them.
The decision to send them to custody for up to 30 days was made by the investigating judge of the Podgorica High Court.
In the action of the police and the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SST) on January 8, around one hundred people were detained, and the police announced a day later that they had identified eight organizers suspected of creating a criminal organization and human trafficking.
Explaining that they broke the biggest chain of human trafficking in the Balkans, they said that they managed to identify first 12 and then 14 more victims.
Foreigners who have been identified as victims of human trafficking are placed in the Shelter for Foreigners, while officers of the Police Administration and SDT are working to identify the others.
