The President of the Court in London (Westminster Magistrates Court), Ema Arbuthnot, yesterday accepted the request of the lawyer team of the president of the Atlas Group, Duško Knežević, to postpone the hearing in the extradition procedure, Atlas Group announced.
The hearing, which was supposed to be held from May 18 to 22, was postponed to the period from September 7 to 11, 2020, the London team of Knežević's lawyers announced.
According to the Atlas Group, the hearing was postponed due to the need for relevant international and regional experts in the fields of politics and human rights in Montenegro to submit independent reports, which are necessary for the main discussion.
"Knežević was represented in court by Mr. Hugo Keith QC (the Queen's legal advisor) and Mr. Tobi Cadman, President of the International Law Chamber Guernica 37, a specialist in the fields of international criminal law, human rights and extradition. Cadman recently joined the legal team of Dr. Knežević and he brings with him rich experience and knowledge of the legal system and organization of the state of Montenegro. Mr. Hugo Keith, one of the biggest experts in extradition and financial crime, comes from the famous Three Raymond Buildings chamber. He worked on one of the biggest criminal cases in Great Britain and represented Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the Home Secretary of Great Britain. Acting Judge Emma Arbuthnot has tried some of the most significant British cases, including the case of Julian Assange," the statement said.
