Confirmation of the indictment against the former mayor of Podgorica and DPS official Slavoljub Stijepović, in the case of Koverta, who is charged with the criminal offense of money laundering, was postponed in the Podgorica High Court until April XNUMXst.
Confirmation of the indictment was delayed because the defense attorneys did not receive the case files.
Lawyer Nemanja Jolović said today in the High Court that Duško Knežević was not invited to the address in London.
Knežević's defense attorney, Zdravko Đukanović, told reporters that Knežević will respond to the court's summons if the summons is delivered to an address in London or he will find a way to address the court regarding these indictments.
Lawyers Nikola Martinović and Bojana Franović asked the court to allow them to use laptops because they cannot carry 20 binders in court. They added that their files are on flash memory.
Duško Knežević was also accused in this case.
Knežević opened the "Envelope" affair in January of last year by publishing a video of him handing over an envelope to Stijepović on the eve of the 2016 election, explaining that it contained 97.000 euros.
In the indictment, however, it is written that Dusko Knežević, after his associates converted 110.000 dollars into euros, handed Stijepović "only" 47.500 euros.
During the investigation, Slavoljub Stijepović admitted that he took the money given to him by Knežević to the DPS election headquarters in Zeta. There he handed it over to the president of the local DPS, Spas Popović, noting that Dusko Knežević was sending the money he promised. During the investigation, Stijepović claimed that neither he nor any other Zeta party member informed the DPS leader Milo Đukanović about Knežević's money.
In addition to Duško Knežević and Slavoljub Stijepović, Knežević's associates and friends Branislav Todorović, Živko Šljivančanin, Tamara Krdžić, Goran Grujović and Tomica Knežević were also accused. All denied guilt. Knežević's former courier and driver, Vlatko Rašović, was given the status of an associate witness, after he told the Prosecutor's Office details about Knežević's other jobs.
