Members of the Criminal Police Sector and the Nikšić police discovered a case of arranged marriage and arrested SK (42) from Nikšić on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of human trafficking, the Police Administration announced today.
"It is suspected that SK committed this crime in December 2019 by giving the sum of 6.500 euros to the guardian in order to obtain consent, and in that way bought a minor girl aged 14 in order to enter into an illegal marriage with his minor son." it is stated in the announcement of the Police Administration.
The statement adds that the police found the injured girl in the house of the suspect, after which she was placed in a safe location.
SK will be brought before the state prosecutor in the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of human trafficking.
"The victim of human trafficking has been taken care of and is in the process of assistance and protection," said the Police Directorate.
