"Brković was not sentenced by an independent court, nor did the prosecutor act professionally"

United Montenegro announced the detention of Milivoj Brković for up to 30 days, saying they were "surprised by the decision of the investigating judge".

Brković is suspected of spreading panic and disorder, after he wrote on his Facebook profile that he has information that 13 citizens of Montenegro are infected with the coronavirus.

"Two days ago, ten hours after he published a post on his private profile in which he announced that he had information about cases of the corona virus in Montenegro, Brković was mistreated by a brutal police action just before midnight, at a family celebration in a restaurant, without respect and of one moral and legal norm, and all in the presence of the closest family and a large number of minors," states Ujedijenna.

Brković, as they add, was not sentenced by an independent court, "nor did the prosecutor previously act professionally - in a media appearance yesterday, Prime Minister Marković ruled against him, requesting that the Prosecution and the Court act rigorously in this particular case."

"Brković thus experienced the honor of being dealt with out of political revanchism by none other than the deputy president of DPS, who by the way is also the prime minister, to the extent that his president Milo Đukanović allows it. It is neither heroic nor humane to sharpen one's weak teeth on Milivoj Brković, and at the same time to remain silent when it comes to the tightening of the criminal policy against hardened criminals who are exterminating each other in the streets of Montenegrin cities in front of the entire government, its prime minister, and the entire public. The executive order to the Prosecutor's Office and the Court in the case of Milivoj Brković is legal and a national shame that those who save face in the meantime will be ashamed of in the near future," the announcement reads.

United asked Prime Minister Marković "what he thinks he can achieve with this strictness towards an honest young man".

"Whatever he does and how much he shows his commitment to the hard-line policy of the DPS, his president will not believe him. Marković knows why. He should have shown the same degree of strictness when on February 7, several Montenegrin portals published information that two monks from Srpska of the Orthodox Church sickened by the corona virus, and that they were quarantined in the Dajbaba monastery. It should have been, but it wasn't. And why it wasn't, again, the prime minister knows best, who deals with a lot of things, and at least with what is at least formally - presiding over a to an incompetent government", they conclude in United Montenegro.
