The opinion of the special state prosecutor was submitted to the Podgorica High Court regarding the proposal to terminate custody of Nenad Vujošević, the former secretary of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office, with a guarantee of bail.
This was confirmed to Vijesti by Aida Muzurović, advisor for public relations of the High Court in Podgorica.
"The High Court in Podgorica received the opinion of the competent state prosecutor regarding the proposal to replace the defendant NV's custody measure with bail. In connection with the said proposal, the defendant gave a statement in front of the court in accordance with the provisions of Article 170 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The Code of Criminal Procedure does not prescribe a deadline in to which the court is obliged to decide on the proposal for setting bail. However, bearing in mind that it is a custody case, the decision will be made as soon as possible", stated Muzurović.
As the media reported, special prosecutor Lidija Vukčević gave consent to the High Court in Podgorica to accept the bail of the defendant Nenad Vujošević, who offered an apartment and 5.000 euros in exchange for the termination of detention.
Earlier, the High Court rejected the proposal for bail when Vujošević offered two apartments, with the explanation that these apartments can be found among the assets that can be seized during the financial investigation against the former secretary.
Vujošević is in custody on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of exerting illegal influence as a member of the criminal organization of businessman Duško Knežević.
He was arrested on suspicion of trying to influence special prosecutors in the investigations conducted against Knežević and members of his criminal organization.
According to the indictment, Nenad Vujošević accepted that as the secretary of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office, using his official position, he monitored the activities of special prosecutors in the lead-up to the discovery of Knežević's organization.
The Special State Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against businessman Duško Knežević, Vujošević and three employees of Atlas Bank for the criminal offense of creating a criminal organization and money laundering.
The hearing that was scheduled for April 1st at the High Court in Podgrica, where it was planned to discuss the legality of the indictment against Duško Knežević, Vujošević and the other defendants, was postponed indefinitely due to prevention in the fight against the corona virus.
The date of the hearing will be determined later.
The indictment stated that Duško Knežević, Nenad Vujošević, Aleksandar Vilotijević, Srđa Pavićević and Olga Stanković committed the criminal acts of creating a criminal organization and as co-perpetrators of money laundering.
