Female persons arrested for not complying with the health regulations for the suppression of a dangerous infectious disease - they are placed behind bars, not in the Police Academy building like men arrested for the same crime.
Yesterday, the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions (UIKS) told "Vijesta" that there are currently three women in the Investigation Prison who have been remanded in custody on suspicion of having committed the crime:
"And regarding the orders issued by the Ministry of Health in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The accommodation of the mentioned persons in the Department for Women is conditioned by objective reasons, which are primarily reflected in the existence of the capacity to accommodate these persons in the Investigation Prison, separated (isolated) from other detainees", said the UIKS.
From the institution managed by Milan Tomić, they previously unofficially confirmed that the men who were ordered to be detained by the court due to non-compliance with the measures, are being taken to the Police Academy - in order to reduce the threat of introducing Covid-19 into the prison...
Answering the question: how then do women not pose a threat of introducing the coronavirus behind the ramparts of Spu, they explained that they are housed separately from other detainees.
"All persons admitted to the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions on suspicion of having committed a criminal offense - non-compliance with health regulations, and in connection with the orders issued by the Ministry of Health, are housed separately from other persons deprived of their liberty and are isolated (either that it is about the accommodation of a person in one of the organizational units of the UIKS or about the accommodation in facilities that have been assigned to the use of the UIKS for the stated needs)", they answered from the Spuš prison.

They pointed out that the decision to place those persons in UIKS is made in a way that aims to ensure full compliance with the orders and recommendations of the authorities:
"Which were brought with the aim of preventing the spread of the coronavirus with the rational use of the resources at our disposal".
"Vijesti" previously announced that some of those detained for violating the temporary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus do not end up behind the walls of Spu, but in the Police Academy.
Although UIKS did not officially answer the question of where these detainees are housed and whether they are secured by guards, they confirmed that they separate these persons from other detainees and convicts, in and out of prison.
They explained that they are doing this in order to prevent the emergence of the coronavirus behind the Spu ramparts. From that institution, they explained that for this reason they provided a facility outside the UIKS, but that the provision of a larger capacity facility, also outside the prison complex, is in the final phase.
"The problem of placing persons in UIKS who violate the orders of the Ministry of Health was recognized in a timely manner by the Government of Montenegro, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Health and the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions. Namely, for the stated needs, in the complex of the UIKS, for a certain number of these persons, accommodation is provided separate from the accommodation of other persons deprived of their liberty, one facility is also provided in the locality outside the UIKS complex, and the provision of a larger capacity facility outside the complex is in the final phase. UIKS, which will be used for the accommodation of these persons. The authorities decided to take this step in order to act responsibly to prevent the emergence of the coronavirus within the prison population in the UIKS, and to carry out detention measures according to the rules of quarantine, considering that these persons do not respect decisions on self-isolation and other obligations and represent a potential risk that they carriers of the Covid-19 virus", explained the UIKS public relations service at the beginning of April.
