In March of the current year, there were 151 fewer accidents in Montenegro than in the same month last year, the number of minor injuries was halved, and two people each died in traffic accidents in the third month of both years.
This results from the response of the Police Administration to the questions of "Vijesti" - how much traffic has happened on Montenegrin streets since the implementation of temporary measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus, which significantly restricted the movement of citizens and prohibited intercity traffic.
However, they did not specify how many accidents there were until March 13, when the first measures were announced, and how many until the end of the month, nor how many occurred during April this year and last year.
"In March 2020, there were 297 traffic accidents in which two people died, 19 people were seriously injured, while 87 people were slightly injured. In the same period last year, a total of 448 traffic accidents occurred in which two people died, 20 people were seriously injured, while 163 people were slightly injured," said the Police Administration.
They explained that from the beginning of the year to March 31, 2020, 1.054 traffic accidents occurred in Montenegro.
"During the mentioned period, 10 people were killed, 85 people were seriously injured and 401 people were slightly injured. In the same period last year, a total of 1.207 traffic accidents occurred in which a total of seven people died, 60 people were seriously injured, while 483 people were slightly injured," said the institution.
