The Coalition for Sustainable Development (KOR) announced that they demand from the competent authorities to identify and prosecute as soon as possible those responsible for last night's burning of the building of Ratko Pajović, from the NGO Carp Security Group, a member of their network:
"Because any other scenario will be a message of encouragement to organized crime, which has been present on Lake Skadar for decades. For years, poachers have been allowed to kill life in Lake Skadar with electricity and other illegal means. Volunteers of the NGO Carp Security group have been fighting for years to preserve the lake and prevent poaching The NGO "Ozon", KOR and numerous other non-governmental organizations and civil initiatives supported them and together in the past period they published numerous videos of poaching", announced KOR.
They pointed out that some of those recordings show that poaching is taking place only 50 meters from the administration building of NP "Skadarsko jezero".
"Performances were organized in order to point out inaction on the part of the administration and supervisors of the National Park, and cooperation began with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, which was handed over documentation and evidence of corruption and inaction by the supervisors, as well as clips showing that the supervisors of the National Park attack a volunteer of the NGO Carp Security Group. Unfortunately, the reaction of the ODT was not adequate and the supervisors as well as the poachers were not prosecuted. Instead, the NGO 'Ozon' was prosecuted as a legal entity and its director Aleksandar Perović, who will be tried on May 15 for the performance held in front of the administration building of JP Nacionalni parks of Montenegro, where the emphasis was precisely on eco-crime on Lake Skadar, and KOR repeated the demands addressed to the Government, where, among other things, the resignation of Elvira Klica, director of the NPCG, was requested. with poaching, however, with the exception of the court process against NGO 'Ozon' and Perović, for organizing a public gathering without a permit, any other reaction was absent. Last night, the fishing hut of Ratko Pajović, a member of the NGO Carp Security Group, was set on fire, and previously his car was damaged precisely because of his activism and efforts to save the lake. That's why we call on the ODT and the Police Directorate to respond adequately and declare war on poaching before someone gets hurt."
They also pointed out what must be done to save life in Lake Skadar:
"Suspend all supervisors of NP "Skadarsko jezero", as well as director Nenad Ivanović, in order to investigate the possible connection between supervisors and poachers, which the public has been pointing out for years and the competent authorities. Strengthen police patrols and monitoring of the access roads to Skadarsko lake and protect NGO activists who fight against poaching. Increase the number of inspectors for freshwater fisheries and amend the legislation so that poaching is recognized as a serious criminal offense and not that poachers are charged with misdemeanors and their equipment and equipment for poaching are returned to them. Director of JP NPCG Elvir Klica must urgently to resign, because he has shown countless times that he manages the national good that has been entrusted to him in a non-domestic way and that he is not up to the challenge of managing the most important resource that Montenegro has. We must react today, because tomorrow may be too late," KOR said. .
