The commander of the border police station in Ulcinj Željko Džarić, his colleagues from the Office for Foreigners Vujica Stanišić, Seid Erović, Predrag Vuković, Alen Hajdarević and Besart Avdiu, as well as the inspector of the Directorate for Inspection Affairs (UIP) Muharem Avdiu, were arrested yesterday morning in Ulcinj. due to the suspicion that they abused their official position, it was confirmed by "Vijesti" from several sources.
In addition to them, seven more people - a total of 14 - were deprived of their freedom in the action of the Department for Internal Control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and the Criminal Police, by order of the basic prosecutor Faruk Resulbegović.
Investigators, it was announced, suspect that this team enabled a large number of workers from abroad to stay and work illegally in Montenegro, without paying legal obligations to the state.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced yesterday that the Department for Internal Control of the Police filed criminal charges against 19 police officers at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj, due to the well-founded suspicion that they committed several crimes - abuse of official position.
Until the conclusion of this issue of Vijesti, the five interrogated were ordered to be detained by the police for up to 72 hours.
"Acting on the order of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office, regarding the aforementioned case, the Department for Internal Control of the Police, in cooperation with the Police Administration - Security Department Ulcinj, undertakes activities with the aim of bringing the suspected officers to the State Prosecutor's Office", according to the statement of the Ministry headed by Mevludin Nuhodžić.
It is emphasized that "the aforementioned activity is the result of permanent measures and actions taken by the internal control of the police with the aim of detecting and suppressing criminal offenses committed by police officers at work or in connection with their work, with a special emphasis on the detection and suppression of corrupt criminal offenses, which are in this case undertaken with the full logistical support of the Police Administration".
The interlocutor of "Vijesti" from the investigation said that earlier the Basic Court, on the initiative of the Department for Internal Control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and on the order of the Ulcinj ODT, passed an order that determined secret surveillance measures against certain police officers.
"Who, by committing the criminal offense of abuse of official position, enabled a large number of workers from abroad to stay and work illegally in our country, while no obligations were paid on that basis," said the "Vijesti" interlocutor.
He stated that with the new orders, after the results of the secret surveillance measures carried out until then, the activities were extended to individual UIP inspectors.
"After the implementation of the secret surveillance measures, which were carried out by the officers of the Department for Internal Control of the Police in cooperation with the officers of the UP, the final reports were submitted to the ODT, so the persons against whom the measures were taken were deprived of their liberty and brought to the prosecutor's office for questioning along with a criminal report." , he said.
