Kosovar citizen Kolj Nushi (54), accused of starting a big fire two years ago in Ulcinj when olive groves burned for days, ended up behind bars for another criminal offense, after he drove the vehicle that was the subject of enforcement proceedings to Switzerland and thus disabled debt collection of 50.000 euros.
The prosecutor's office confirmed to "Vijesti" that Nusa was sent to Spuž to serve a one-year prison sentence, to which he was sentenced for the crime of evasion, 15 days ago.
During the proceedings, the prosecutors established that, instead of handing over the Lexus RX 400H jeep to AD for a debt of around 50 thousand euros, Nushi drove the expensive vehicle to Switzerland, thus making it impossible to execute the debt.
Nusa became known to the wider Ulcinj and Montenegrin public two years ago when he was suspected of being responsible for the outbreak of a fire in an olive grove in Bažbuljuk in Ulcinj.
Over 1.000 hundred-year-old olive trees perished in the fire.
In the meantime, the Kosovar was accused of having committed the criminal offense of causing general danger, and that proceeding is still ongoing before the Basic Court in Ulcinj.
Investigators suspect that on September 25, 2018, a fire broke out from his plot, which in seven days devastated the Ulcinj coast in the belt of olive groves in Bažbuljuk and Mendre, and threatened the Liman settlement as well.
During the hearing at the prosecutor's office, Nushi said that he was burning weeds on the plot three days before the fire broke out, but that he put the fire out.
Due to the inaccessible terrain, on several occasions the fire was extinguished by firefighters, and the firefighters from Nikšić, Cetinje, Budva, Bar, Tivat and Herceg Novi came to the aid of their colleagues from Ulcinj.
Both locals and members of the Maritime Safety Administration participated in extinguishing the fire.
The day after the fire broke out, Nushi flew from Kosovo to Switzerland. According to the unofficial information of "Vijesti", his transfer to Sukobina was not recorded at that time.
The interlocutor of "Vijesti" said that in that period there was no obligation to record every border crossing in the system.
According to the same information, Nusa then crossed the crossing as a privileged person, through an unofficial lane at the request of Albanian policemen and customs officials.
