The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica rejected the criminal complaint that the Police Directorate recently filed against the editor of Borba, Dražen Živković, claiming that the journalist evaded taxes and contributions.
"The state prosecutor dismissed the criminal complaint against D.Ž by decision," the spokeswoman of that prosecution, prosecutor Milica Mandić, told Vijesta.
At the end of August, the UP officially announced that the officers of the Criminal Police Sector filed a criminal complaint against Živković, due to the suspicion that he had committed the criminal offense of tax and contribution evasion.
"...In the way that he avoided paying taxes, contributions and other prescribed duties by concealing data on legally acquired income for the year 2019," they announced at the time, explaining that he damaged the budget by 2.250 euros.
Živković told Vijesti that he was informed by the ODT that the criminal complaint had been dismissed, emphasizing that the head of the SKP, Enis Baković, was behind the false complaint.
"Who, by abusing his official position, tried to harm me with lies and falsely accuse me of being a criminal who evaded taxes. Just imagine, a man without a day of police experience, who is a party henchman of the DPS, from the position of the head of the criminal investigation, breaks the law in order to reckoned with honest people. Now it is clear that Baković committed at least two criminal acts, for which he will have to answer. I will file a criminal complaint with the Special Prosecutor's Office against Enis Baković and certain Čarna Rastoder and Marija Žugić, who work in the media team of the Police Administration and for now Unknown persons from the police, for creating a criminal organization that, by abusing their official position and falsifying documents, tried to invent a criminal offense for me, the day before the parliamentary elections," said Živković.
He added that he had reasonable doubts that the motives for dealing with him were national and religious.
"When I submit the report, the prosecutor's office will have the opportunity to investigate it. Now I guess it is clear to everyone that the police's crackdown on me is politically motivated and that Baković is hiding behind the institution. Now, when he leaves the service, which is already a matter of days, he will end up there where he should, on the dock for all the subterfuge and lies he dealt with," Živković said.
