After half a year, they detained an inspector on the report of a suspect for drug smuggling?

In February, Pljevljak Igor Terzić accused inspector Ivan Cvijović of asking him for a bribe, which is why an officer of the Drug Department of the Podgorica Security Center was arrested on September 24, lawyer Damir Lekić told Vijestima.

He was handcuffed by members of the Special Police Department, and two days later, the investigating judge ordered the long-time inspector to be detained for up to 30 days, Lekić said.

Lekić called it questionable that the inspectors waited from February to the end of September to prosecute Cvijović and that he was detained after so long.

He said that it is very indicative that the day before he was arrested, Cvijović carried out an operation codenamed "Gorka" in which several perpetrators of serious crimes were detained.

"And a day later, he is arrested as someone who has no connection with the police and as a criminal, and that only based on a notification from a person who has a criminal past, who is in custody and has a reason to make such statements due to receiving certain privileges," Lekić said. .

He explained that Terzić was also under investigation by Cvijović, more precisely, the inspector was carrying out an action during which Terzić was under secret surveillance measures.

"It was Ivan Cvijović who processed the secret surveillance measures and handed over the transcripts on the basis of which certain persons to whom Terzić sold drugs were arrested. It is about the action 'Toranj' in which Terzić served justice and a criminal complaint was filed against him as the organizer of a criminal group. Therefore, Cvijović participated in that action honorably and professionally, and based on his actions, all persons who were processed were deprived of their freedom and are behind bars," said Lekić.

Lekić said that Cvijović and Terzić knew each other from Pljevlja:

"Most likely, Terzić wanted to achieve certain benefits, which is why he incriminated Cvijović. However, he lost sight of the fact that in this criminal act, both the complainant and the reported were incriminated, so both are accused. Such behavior is simply surprising, because he himself will responds, but probably by some actions of police officers, he was induced to give such a notice, in order not to somehow collect data in relation to other persons, with the promise that he will have a benefit that cannot exist in this case... So, obviously miscalculated, because he caused himself more harm than good, which will cost him criminal proceedings and possible punishment if what he said is proven to be justified, and at the very least, bearing in mind the evidence and the firm belief that Ivan Cvijovića has nothing to do with this incrimination , will be responsible for false reporting," Cvijović's lawyer said.

The lawyer pointed out that Cvijović was awarded several times in his service, and the last time was two months before his arrest.

"Colleagues know him as a very good and honest police officer who came to Podgorica from Pljevlja and did his police work honorably in the field of fighting drugs," Lekić said.

He pointed out that it is particularly worrying that in the case files there is no evidence that Cvijović took a bribe, but only the information collected from Terzić.

"Who is currently in custody for the criminal offense of creating a criminal organization and other criminal offenses and unfortunately he is given credit and his testimony for the prosecution and the court has more power than the defense of a police officer without a single blemish in his career... Such behavior is surprising, and especially regarding the assessment of evidence, because when such statements, such persons, characters, stand opposite each other, as a rule, an authorized police officer is more likely to be believed than a person who has a criminal past and is in custody," said Lekić.

Terzić and Goran Vukčević were disarmed and arrested in Kotor in May, and the police claim whether their arrest prevented the liquidation.

Terzić's alleged criminal group was broken up in mid-September while he was behind bars. Marko Milićević, Nemanja Novaković and Nemanja Odović were arrested in the operation "Toranj", who, according to the investigators, under the leadership of Terzić, were dealing large quantities of marijuana from Montenegro to Serbia.

They are also suspected of selling cocaine on the street.
