The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment against seven persons, who are accused of smuggling around 6,8 tons of marijuana from the territory of Montenegro to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and further towards the EU countries.
The defendants are Ivan Antunović, Borislav Kovačević, Ivan Cvijanović, Mario and Jurica Vuletić, Haris Hodžić and Nikola Bošković, and the illegally obtained benefit is estimated at at least two million euros, the BiH Prosecutor's Office announced.
The press release points out that this is the most extensive indictment in the field of drug crime in post-Dayton BiH, which was brought after a months-long investigation conducted in cooperation with partner police and security institutions of BiH, regional countries and the EU.
The defendants are accused of organizing, planning and smuggling marijuana from Montenegro to Bosnia and Herzegovina, usually in quantities of around 2016 kilograms, and in some cases 2019 or 25 kilograms, in agreement with other persons on at least 200 occasions. kilograms.
The drugs were then stored in BiH or immediately smuggled further towards Croatia and EU countries.
Law enforcement agencies intercepted and prevented the smuggling of at least two tons of drugs in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the territory of East Sarajevo, Neum and Gradiška, as well as certain quantities of narcotic drugs in the territory of Croatia.
During the search and arrest of the suspects, half a million convertible marks (about 250 euros) were seized, as well as a certain amount of counterfeit banknotes.
The defendants hired vehicles from transport companies dealing in the sale of oil derivatives or other goods for smuggling.
The prosecution will prove the accusations by calling about 20 witnesses, some of whom have received protected status, and expert witnesses.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
