Milan Kankaraš told the prosecutors that in different periods he was a member of two criminal organizations, explaining that in 2016 he accepted Vladimir Roganović's invitation - to inform him of the movements of the group gathered around Zoran Mrvaljević Mrva, with whom he occasionally socialized.
This is what is written in the indictment against Mrvaljević and four other people who are accused of preparing the murder of Nemanja Zurovac, smuggling drugs...
Kankaraš is a cooperating witness in that case.
"Vladimir Roganović promised him that, if he agreed to tell him where these people were moving, he would give him money and enough cocaine for personal use," the indictment states.
Mrvaljević is at the head of a team close to the Skaljar criminal clan, while the now deceased Vladimir Roganović was a member of the opposing, Kavak clan.
Kankaraš claims that Roganović told him that he wanted to take revenge on Mrvaljević, because he allegedly beat his brother Šćepan, and that he wanted to pay him back by organizing some people to beat Mrvaljević.
As he writes, he said that they then went to Roganović's home, where he took out five or six mobile phones and gave him one: "And said that they were encrypted phones and explained that they could communicate freely through that phone." He explained to him that he only writes messages from that phone".
The indictment states that this was actually the beginning of his membership in a criminal organization and that he reported the movements of Mrvaljević, Krsto Vujić aka Kićo and Slobodan Vic to Roganović, Igor Bošnjak and Nemanja Zurovac.
2 KG OF COCAINE
Kankaraš said that he made the first contact with Mrvaljević after the group around Roganović tried to kill him with a bomb. It says that Mrvaljević asked him if he had anything to do with that event, which he denied.
"Mrva then told him that he blamed Zurovac for that event and then offered him two kilograms of cocaine, in exchange for information on Zurovac's whereabouts."
The associate witness states that he verbally agreed to it, but not essentially because he was already in Roganović's team.
He further told the prosecutors that in the spring of 2017, an attempt was made to kill Duško Roganović, Vladimir's uncle, who "was furious about it."
He asked, according to the indictment, if Mrvin's team was behind it, and the associate witness answered him: "Yes, there is no one else, these Skaljarci".
He says that then the Roganovics "pressured" him to get close to Mrvaljević again and, as part of that plan, to go to him to buy marijuana and cocaine.
He goes, he writes, to the same bar, and then he, Mrva and Kićo come out in front, who "personally told him that they were working with cocaine abroad, but that something would happen in the next period and that they would complete the combination. Then, he claims, he arranged with Mrva to sell him a kilogram of "grass" for 700 euros. He provided the money for that through Roganović.
SHOOT AND YOU WILL BE THE BOSS
During a meeting on the Yellow Bridge, the Saranik witness claims, Kićo Vujić asked him if he was watching Dejan Vuksanović, Roganović's godfather, somewhere...
"Kićo asked him if he was ready to shoot Vuksanović, to which he replied that he was not ready at that moment and that he was satisfied with selling cocaine... Kićo told him that there was no problem and that he should not tell anyone about this ", it is written in the explanation of the prosecutor's act.
Kankaraš said that he regularly informed Duško Roganović about this, who immediately started thinking about how to kill Mrva and Kić: "He asked him if he would agree to be wounded in the leg during the handover (of drugs), and that he would kill other people Mrvu and Kić".
It is stated that he also corresponded with Vladimir on this topic, who offered him 200.000 euros.
"He said he would give him 100.000 in advance and the rest when he finished the job. Vladimir urged him in correspondence to even do this publicly, and that they would provide him with the best lawyer, that his family would be taken care of, that the lawyer would arrange for him to be sentenced to some 8-9 years, and that he would serve 5 years. He continued to persuade him with words, that if he does it - that everyone will respect him, that he will be the boss and that he will be in charge".
He refused to do it.
He says that Duško Roganović again proposed to him to set up Mrva and KIć on the Yellow Bridge during the drug handover, telling him then that he would send "his men to kill them". He said that Roganović advised him not to appear at that meeting, but to go to Podgorica and go to the Delta shopping center, where his movements will be recorded by surveillance cameras.
He said that he accepted the plan, and Duško promised him that he would give him 2.500 euros to have for shopping - the same evening, he claims, Šćepan Roganović handed him that amount.
"The next day, he contacted Glavaš and scheduled a meeting at the Yellow Bridge at 21 p.m., about which he informed Duško and Vladimir. During the mentioned day, he received a large number of messages from Duško on the encrypted phone where he encouraged him not to give up the plan, advised him what to talk to the police about if it came to that, told him to refuse the polygraph and if everything goes well, they will be fraternized. , it says in the explanation.
The cooperating witness said that he then came to Podgorica, rented an apartment in the Zabjelo neighborhood, but, he claims, was only thinking about how to prevent the murder.
"He states that he was afraid because he knew that everyone would immediately suspect him. At 20.40:22 p.m., he entered the toilet at TC Delta City, after which he called Glavaš Igor on the phone and told him that he could not come to the aforementioned meeting and that he was canceling everything. Around XNUMX p.m., while he was still in Delta, Duško started contacting him through the crypt, saying that these persons had not appeared on the bridge. He made the excuse that he didn't know what it was about and that he had properly arranged the meeting," it says in the explanation...
ATTEMPTED MURDER
Kankaraš claims that the Roganovićs "pressured" him less while Vujić was in prison, but that they started to do so in mid-2018 when the latter met him again in Novi...
"From the correspondence with Duško and Bošnjak, he concluded that they hired some other persons who informed them of Mrvina and Kić's movements... He understood that both were targets... but concluded that Mrvaljević was more important to them. The next day, a Bosniak told him in the crypt that Zoran and Kićo were in the hotel 'PR'"...
He says that he shouldn't have taken the risk, that he informed them as soon as they left the hotel: "During the drive, when he came to the turn for Savina - he saw the Intervention Unit. Everything was blocked and controlled. It was clear to him what had happened and he thought that Kićo and Mrva had been killed. Word quickly spread through the city that Mrvaljević was wounded... that Kićo was unharmed. After a few hours, he went to his crypt and contacted Duško and Bošnjak. He was relieved that both of them were alive and then started messing around with them a bit. He asked them mockingly - who are these incompetent experts who cannot kill a man from 5 meters away. Both of them sent him messages that they were also nervous because it turned out like this, and then Duško sent him a message that not everything went easily and that things like this are difficult to organize and execute. They didn't want to tell him who shot Mrva and Kić," the prosecutor quotes an associate witness.
MURDER OF ROGANOVIĆ
The witness told the prosecutors that Kićo asked him several times if he knew who shot at them and told him that he suspected that a Bosniak had done it. He says that he also told him then that he would give him an encrypted phone, which later made Roganović's team happy because "he was so close to them"...
After that, Kićo survived another assassination attempt, and the cooperating witness, as he told the investigation, swore that he did not know about it and that he had nothing to do with it.
Vujić, however, not long after asked him to start following Šćepan Roganović - because "he is their financier and he makes and sponsors all the murders they ordered"...
"In the conversation with Kićo, he commented that Vladimir will soon be released from prison, to which Kićo replied that they will kill Vladimir as soon as he gets out of prison... He conveyed all this to Vladimir, who sent smileys to those messages"...
He said that he learned about the murder of Vladimir Roganović in Vienna from the media, that he immediately contacted Mrva and Kić via the crypt and praised them for a job well done...
"They were satisfied that he was killed, they did not mention any details to him... In his opinion, the two were directly involved in Vladimir's murder. Mrvaljević was so pleased that he told him to contact Vic Slobodan, because he had left 200 euros with him... They told him that all activities related to the murder of Šćepan Roganović were being stopped".
NEXT TARGET
Kankaraš claims that Mrvaljević contacted him 15 days after that and said that Zurovac was the next target for liquidation.
He says that he asked him if he could approach him and kill him personally: "He told him to think about it and that he would be paid 40.000 euros and a kilo of cocaine for the murder."
He said, he writes, that he would think about it, and in the following days, Mrvaljević often wrote to him and put pressure on him to kill Zurovec. Vujić was also familiar with those correspondences, he said.
"After that, he met Zurovac on one occasion and then decided to tell him that Mrva and Kićo were recruiting him to kill him, which visibly annoyed Zurovac and he commented that he would take revenge on them," the indictment reads.
He said that Mrvaljević told him to go to the fortress Španjola, that he left him a gun there. He claims that he found the gun, but that he did not intend to kill Zurovac, so he procrastinated, turned off the phone... He said that after that he found out that Mrvaljević was arrested in Serbia, after which he called Zurovac and without talking about the history of the weapon, handed him over gun in exchange for four grams of cocaine...
"There is no evidence that they are part of a criminal group"
There is no evidence that Zoran Mrvaljević, Krsto Vujić, Slobodan Vico, Jovan Žmukić and Jovo Riznić are members of the criminal organization that allegedly planned the liquidation of Nemanja Zurovac from Novlja.
During yesterday's hearing on the confirmation of the indictment, the defense attorneys of all the accused said this, stating in the High Court that the indictment cannot be based only on the testimony of Milan Kankaraš's accomplice witness.
SDT labeled Mrvaljević as the head of that criminal organization which allegedly planned to commit several serious crimes.
One of his defense attorneys, lawyer Milica Saveljić, asked the panel of judge Boris Savić to suspend the proceedings against her client.
"SDT, by order of October 1, 2020 (coincidentally, the same day they filed this indictment), suspended the proceedings against Mrvaljević for another criminal offense, due to the fact that someone cannot be found guilty based only on the testimony of an accomplice witness... However, the other criminal offenses charged against them - creation of a criminal organization and murder by incitement, are reduced to the same evidence - the testimony of the witness of the collaborator Milan Kankaraš, which is contradictory in itself," she said.
Lawyer Saveljić, as well as her colleagues Ognjen Radić, Danilo Mićović and Srđan Lješković, pointed out that the secret surveillance measures that exist in that case are illegal.
They reasoned that special prosecutor Saša Čađenović is using secret surveillance measures from 2019, collected for another criminal offense, as evidence for the alleged preparation of liquidation in 2016.
"Mrvaljević talks informally with friends and acquaintances, and SDT states from those conversations, based on those conversations, 'it is assumed', 'it is possible', 'it is indicated'... This is not evidence, but an assumption, which is not enough to judge someone or to be condemned. Mrvaljević is the victim in this case, not the perpetrator of the crime," she said.
The defender of Mrvaljević, Vic and Vujović who is on the run, lawyer Ognjen Radić, said that the SDT did not offer any evidence that a criminal offense was planned, but also that the people they accused could not possibly be in a criminal organization. Žmukić's defense attorney, attorney Lješković, also requested the same, stating that the special prosecutor must be a wizard to "unite these people in one criminal organization."
Lawyer Mićović, Riznić's defense attorney, said that there is no criminal organization at all.
"Riznić cannot be a member of something that does not exist. Since the beginning of the criminal prosecution of the defendants, there is no evidence that any criminal offense was committed, especially in relation to my client. What was the action and according to what instructions, which members of this alleged criminal group did my client commit. None. He said something there in front of the SDT, but if there is a procedure, which would be absolutely impossible, we will see why, how and for what reason," said Mićović. SDT suspects the defendants of having planned the murder of an alleged member of the Kavac criminal clan - Zurovac.
