The Prosecutor's Office is investigating: Illegal logging on the Rečinska Rijeka carried out as part of the MHE works?

"The forestry inspector submitted a report on the control, in which the illegal cutting of trees in the town of Skrbuša, on the route of the MHP construction, was confirmed. The investigation procedure is ongoing in order to establish the existence of a criminal offense and its perpetrator", Vojislav Grujić told "Vijesta" ODT

On the route of the construction of the small hydropower plant (mHP) "Skrbuša" on the Rečinska river, during the inspection control it was noted that a certain number of trees had been illegally cut down.

According to unofficial information from "Vijesti", the felling was carried out as part of the work on the MHP.

The concession for the Rečinska river was awarded to the company "Hydro logistics", and the works on the HPP are being carried out by "BB solar".

Forestry inspector Radmila Rakočević's report with the stated situation was submitted to the Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT).

As Vojislav Grujić, ODT, told "Vijesta", the procedure is currently in the investigation phase.

"The forestry inspector submitted a report on the control, in which the illegal cutting of trees in the town of Skrbuša, on the route of the MHP construction, was confirmed. "The investigative process is ongoing in order to determine the existence of a criminal offense and its perpetrator," Grujić said.

According to what the Forestry Administration told "Vijesta", the concessionaire had to perform a series of actions before cutting the trees, in accordance with the law.

"First, the route should have been marked, then officials of the Forestry Administration should have been called to carry out a survey.

Also, in those cases, an executive project is also necessary.

Cut down trees should be deposited where the Forestry Administration orders," explained the company.

On October 7, part of the residents and owners of the Rečina estate stopped the work on the HPP.

According to the agreement between them, their neighbors who are not opposed to the construction of mHE and the representative of "Hydro logistics" Ivan Burzanović, the project should be voted on in the coming days.

If the majority of the residents are in favor of the project, the concessionaire has committed to a donation to the village of, as he said, more than half a million euros.

Burzanović announced that, if the residents agree to the continuation of construction, he will asphalt four kilometers of the village road.

He also announced the repair of several kilometers of macadam road, the construction of four culverts and the employment of two locals.

The novelty in his offer is the construction of a water mill, which, he said, would be donated to the Ćirilovac monastery.

Those were not strong enough reasons for those who oppose the construction of the HPP to change their minds.

"We are waiting for the relevant institutions to do their work, and when that happens, a vote will be held in the Ministry of Health. We will vote when we know all the details about MHP," said one of the opponents of the continuation of work on MHP Vasilije Ivanović.

Nikola Rakočević, one of the owners of the estate in Rečine, said earlier that he believes that the MHE project, that is, the donations promised by the investor, will make the village much better off. He says that only those "whose properties are closely tied to the part of the river where the HPP is being built" should vote.
