Policemen squinting until the border is crossed?

Eight police officers and three citizens were arrested in a police operation for illegally crossing the border, accepting and giving bribes...

Criminal charges were filed against two other police officers and two citizens, who were not deprived of their liberty.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) explained that the action that resulted in the arrest of Police Department officials and citizens was carried out by their Department for Internal Police Control (OUK) for months.

State Secretary for the Control of Police Work (MUP), Rade Milošević, told the News that this is just the beginning of actions aimed at restoring order and fighting corruption within the police.

He praised his colleagues from OUK, who, in coordination with the Podgorica Higher State Prosecutor's Office, worked for months to uncover the illegal behavior of police officers in the performance of police duties and the application of police powers.

ZG, MS and Lj were arrested in Nikšić. M, police officers of the Security Center there, and in Novi BV and LT employees of the Department of Border Security.

In the same operation, an IP policeman in the Kotor Security Department and a trainee policeman in the Budva ND Security Center were arrested

"Based on established facts and evidence that pointed to the illegal behavior of police officers, the Department for Internal Control of the Police submitted a report to the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica - a criminal complaint against 10 police officers, due to the well-founded suspicion that they had committed several criminal acts of accepting bribes (Art. .423 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro), abuse of official position (Art. 416 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro) and illegal crossing of the state border and people smuggling (Art. 405 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro), as well as against 5 citizens (3 Montenegrin and 2 foreign citizens ), due to the existence of a well-founded suspicion that they have committed the criminal offense of giving a bribe (Art. 424 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro) and inciting the commission of the criminal offense of accepting a bribe (Art. 423 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro)", the MUP announced.

They point out that yesterday, acting on the orders of the VDT Podgorica, officers of the Department for Internal Control of the Police, with logistical support and cooperation with the competent organizational units of the Police Administration, undertook a series of measures and activities that resulted in the arrest of eight police officers and three citizens: after that they were taken to the acting state prosecutor".

According to the information of Vijesti, inspectors of the Internal Control Department searched the houses of their colleagues with police officers at dawn yesterday, and then arrested them.

Along with their supervision, three citizens were also arrested who allegedly paid police officers to turn a blind eye to people smuggling.
