The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica released all the suspects who were detained in the "Granica" case.

The suspects were not remanded in custody because the ODT heard all the witnesses they could influence and thus hinder the proceedings.

Earlier, the members of the Tender Commission for the implemented public procurement of border monitoring equipment, Tatjana Drobnjak, Vojin Rondović and Zoran Milić, as well as the members of the Commission for monitoring the implementation of that contract, Bojana Lučić, Ivan Glomazić, Jurica Žarković and Zoran Lasica, were deprived of their liberty.

They were arrested on suspicion of participating in fraud during the procurement of electronic equipment for border surveillance, buying cheaper devices than intended and affixing false labels to them.

The embezzlement was discovered by the Interdepartmental Commission formed by the Minister of the Interior, Sergej Sekulović, and it is a contract worth 1.144.850 euros.

Information about their release was published by the Basic State Prosecutor's Office on its website.

"The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, as part of the State Prosecutor's Office of Montenegro, will act in every case exclusively according to the Constitution and the law, regardless of the views of individual electronic media in the specific case, while we point out that the types of restrictions on freedom in the proceedings are not criminal sanctions, but the most severe measures of procedural coercion, which are applied only when the same purpose cannot be achieved with other, milder measures," stated state prosecutor and spokesman Vukas Radonjić.
