President of the Atlas Group, Duško Knežević, tells TV A1 that the "Envelope" affair, which shook Montenegro and led to large protests, and later to the overthrow of the government, has now been characterized by the High Court in a shameful way, with the acquittal of Slavoljub Stijepović. is from TV A1.
"It is a great shame for the Montenegrin judiciary because this affair was caused by political racketeering by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and Milo Đukanović (President of Montenegro and DPS). The video clearly shows who are the main actors on the scene, it is actually DPS, Migo Stijepović (former mayor of Podgorica Slavoljub Stijepović) and Milo Đukanović," said Knežević.
On March 2, the Council of the Higher Court in Podgorica issued a decision suspending the criminal proceedings against the former mayor of Podgorica, Slavoljub Stijepović, who was accused of money laundering in the "Koverta" affair.
The same decision confirmed the indictment against Duško Knežević for creating a criminal organization, as well as against Branislav Todorović, Živko Šljivančanin, Tamara Krdžić, Goran Grujović and Tomica Knežević, for the same criminal offense and for money laundering as a co-perpetrator.
Knežević added that the international community will be informed about everything.
"All those who are now trying to defend the DPS are actually digging themselves in more and more and proving that the prosecution and the High Court are the extended arm of an octopus that is still managed by Milo Đukanović. The current decision of the court to exclude Stijepović is especially incomprehensible for an international factor - the European Commission , the Foreign Office and the State Department. We will inform these three institutions now, as before, that the biggest body of political corruption and political racketeering is the SDT (Special State Prosecutor's Office) and the higher courts in Montenegro," Knežević said.
Commenting on the statement of the chief special prosecutor (GST) Milivoj Katnić, that he will not resign, Knežević says that this is only a continuation of the deepening of the crisis in Montenegro.
"I think that the parliamentary majority must as soon as possible find the strength to take down this criminal group together with Lidija Vukčević who is trying to defend Migo and DPS instead of doing his job and carrying out the investigation to the end. They are also manipulating the statement of Vlatko Rašović because they forced him to be a protected witness, and his statement that he took the money and carried it to Migo Stijepović exists in the special police team from which he was pressured to say that the money was exchanged for DF, not for DPS," Knežević points out.
He expects the Court of Appeal to reject the decision of the High Court.
"I expect the Court of Appeal to reject the decision of the Higher Court and to make it clear that it is about political racketeering not only of me but of all the leading businessmen in Montenegro and that this criminal structure will begin to be dismantled, because with this kind of prosecution and this kind of judiciary, Montenegro cannot does not expect any better future, and especially not for Milivoje Katnić to remain in that position," concluded Knežević.
