The Higher Court of Podgorica again suspended the criminal proceedings against Slavoljub Stijepović, accused of money laundering in the "Koverta" affair.

The previous decision of March 2 was also a stay of proceedings.

After the appeal of the Special Prosecutor's Office, the Court of Appeal annulled the decision and sent the case back for retrial.

Independent consultant for public relations Aida Muzurović told "Vijestim" that the court's decision is identical to the previous one.

"The Special State Prosecutor's Office has the right to appeal to the Appellate Court of Montenegro within eight days of receiving the decision," said Muzurović.

"Vijesti" was unofficially informed by SDT that they will file an appeal.

The indictment was brought after the affair that businessman Duško Knežević opened in January 2019, by publishing a video in which he hands Stijepović an envelope before the 2016 election, explaining that it contains 97.000 euros.

In the indictment, however, it is written that Dusko Knežević, after his associates converted 110.000 dollars into euros, handed Stijepović "only" 47.500 euros.

In that act, it is stated that in the second half of 2010, Knežević created a criminal group whose members were in charge of withdrawing money obtained from the illegal activities of several companies, and then handing it over to him in order to put it into legal channels.
