The parents of Damir Hodžić claim that the police forbade them to look for their son, seven days after he disappeared together with their son-in-law Adis Spahić on October 14 last year.
They told "Vijesti" that even now, exactly one year after their son's disappearance, they still do not have any concrete information.
The Special State Prosecutor's Office recently announced that Hodžić and Spahić were killed in a house in Stanjevića rupa, near Spuž, accusing the Belgraders Veljko Belivuk, Marko Miljković and Nebojša Janković and Ratko Živković from Kraljevo of those murders.
"Somewhere it was stated that the Hodžić family is not interested, but we are the ones from whom the police got all the footage we had, from private security cameras, and that we were constantly searching for Sunday alongside the Special Team, only to be stopped on the seventh day in words - that we are committing a criminal offense and that they will arrest us. That's why we were forced to give up," said Hodžić's mother, Sabaheta.
She added that in the next six months, since then, the only information they received from the police was: "We are working."
"After half a year, we continued to address the special team and we encountered almost the same answer... They convinced us that they were not competent to provide any information and that the public prosecutor would do it. The prosecutor (Saša) Čađenović addressed us only after the announcement in the Serbian media - that a double murder was committed in Montenegro, and that was only because we called to ask: 'Do we want to find out from another country what happened to our son?' . When we first met with prosecutor Čađenović, he told us that Damir was killed by Belivuk on October 14, 2020 - with a firearm, in a car, and that he had pictures and a lot of evidence for that. We did not receive any evidence, we were told that we are not ready to see it," said Hodžić's mother.
She also said that they expected that prosecutor to present to them everything he had about their son's murder the next time, and that the only thing they got was a change of crime scene.
"We get the next version of the murder - a house in Stanjevića Rupa in Spuz, but again we don't get any evidence or a single picture. Not long after, pictures appeared in the public, which Čađenović himself said were of my son. Immediately after the pictures were released to the public, we scheduled a new meeting with Čađenović, where he claims that he has nothing to do with the pictures that were released to the public and that our son is not in them. After that announcement, we insist on seeing the pictures and then start looking for the body, where again we don't get pictures but only a search ban"...
She said that since August 18, they have met with the prosecutor many times, but "to this day, we still haven't seen any evidence of our son's murder."
"They just led us to turn to the media, which they also convinced us not to include because of their unprofessionalism... He justified himself with the sentence - I took over the case since July. I want them to finally put an end to the unprofessionalism and to have at least a little empathy for everything my family and I are going through. I want to get the evidence in black and white without hiding it, because we deserve it according to the law and he claims to have it."
Sabaheta said that she persistently wonders why they are hiding the evidence from the family and who will be held accountable by the state authorities: "Because as we can see from the attached document, the authorities participated in the crime against my son. "Who will be held accountable because Veljko Belivuk was allowed to move freely in Montenegro, to go to babine or sla, which, it is an open secret, was attended by someone from the top of the police," said Sabaheta Hodžić.
She said that their son would not have stopped the car except at the signal of the police, which is why they suspect that someone from that insistence was involved in his murder.
