Đukanović submitted a written statement to the SDT regarding the "Pandora Paper"

The Special State Prosecutor's Office received the statement of President Milo Đukanović, which the Prosecutor's Office requested from him as part of the investigation into the "Pandora Papers" case.

Đukanović's written response came at the request of the SDT, which opened the case at the beginning of October, after the Network for the Affirmation of the Non-Governmental Sector (MANS) published a series of texts in which they presented information that the President of Montenegro and his son Blažo during 2012 established secret trusts and companies in several offshore destinations.

Mlađi Đukanović was questioned as part of that investigation on October 22.

Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić previously explained why Milo Đukanović was only asked for a written statement.

"It is made possible for high-ranking officials, not so that they would be privileged or separated from others, but to avoid the procedure of controlling the premises. That is why it is simpler to send questions and direct them to make a statement," said Katnić.

Through a global offshore business research project called "Pandora Papers", the non-governmental organization MANS announced that in 2012 Milo Đukanović and his son Blažo entered into secret contracts on the management of their assets hiding behind a complicated network of related companies from Great Britain , Switzerland, British Virgin Islands, Panama and Gibraltar.

"It can be seen from the contract that the elder Đukanović formed the Victoria Trust, and his son the Capecastel Trust," stated MANS. The voluminous documentation they published shows that these companies, trusts, are authorized to buy and sell real estate and companies, open new companies and giro accounts, give and take loans and perform various other tasks on behalf of Đukanović, MANS said.

The Cabinet of the President of the State, after MANS published the documentation on the alleged secret contracts on the management of Đukanović's property, announced that this is the latest show for the public by that NGO and is just one more in a series of attempts to discredit the President of Montenegro and his family members, on which MANS has been working in vain for years.

As they stated, Đukanović, during 2012, when he was not performing state duties, worked on establishing the infrastructure for starting business activities together with his son. At that time he established the Victoria Trust, which, while he was the owner, had no business transactions, did not open a single bank account, because it was simply never activated.
