The trial of Budimir Krstović and his daughter Marina Krstović, who are accused of smuggling 28 kilograms of cocaine, is scheduled for February 1.206 in the High Court in Podgorica. The case has been assigned to judge Vesna Kovačević, independent public relations consultant Marija Raković confirmed to "Vijesta".
At the indictment review hearing held on January 17, state prosecutor Tanja Božović at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica proposed to the court to confirm the indictment.
"During the investigation, all material and witness statements were collected. Appreciating the content of this evidence, I find that the indictment against Budimir Krstović and Marina Krstović is justified and based on the law," stated the prosecutor.
The defense lawyers, lawyers Borivoje Đukanović, Dragoljub Đukanović, Stefan Jovanović and Željko Đukanović, proposed to the court to pass a decision suspending the criminal proceedings because there is no reason to suspect that they have committed a criminal offense.
The defendant, Budimir Krstović, pointed out that this was a setup that served as a good political story, and that he has been importing bananas for 32 years, and his company "San Francisco" has never made a single mistake. Marina Krstović said in court today that the reputation of their family business is impeccable.
Lawyer Borivoje Đukanović emphasized that the indictment only stated in general terms that the defendants Krstović committed a criminal offense.
"The indictment failed to state the specifics of the act of committing the criminal act. It was not indicated how the criminal act was committed, the place and the means. Not a single piece of evidence was presented," according to lawyer Đukanović.
Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica on 23.12.2021. filed an indictment against the defendants BK and MK for the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and placing on the market of narcotic drugs - cocaine in the amount of 1.206,253 kilograms, which indictment was delivered to the High Court in Podgorica for the purpose of deciding on the same," it is stated in announcement of the prosecution.
