The trial of Duško D. Knežević in the "Airports" case, accused of having committed the criminal offense of abuse of position in business operations through incitement, was postponed today in the High Court in Podgorica.
Defendant Knežević's lawyer, lawyer Zdravko Đukanović, told "Vijesta" that the trial was postponed until September XNUMX.
"Duško Knežević will be interrogated from June 25 to 30 in London" before the state authorities of Great Britain regarding Montenegro's request for extradition. Former chief special prosecutor Milivoje Katnić filed a large number of reports against Knežević, especially since Interpol canceled all warrants a year and a half ago. So that's why the hearing will last five days. Katnić did this outside the regular prosecutor's procedure. We expect that the request for extradition will be rejected," said lawyer Đukanović.
Special prosecutor Lidija Vukčević filed an indictment against the former managers of "Atlas banka" Duško Knežević, Marko Nikolić and Dijana Zečević, and the legal entity "Atlas banka".
According to the indictment, the defendants damaged "Aerodrome Crne Gore" for three million euros, and benefited "Atlas Bank" in the same amount, because they did not return the deposit of three million euros after the deadline expired. The indictment was brought against the former owner of "Atlas banka" Duško Knežević, and against the former executive director of Atlas banka Marko Nikolić and the director of the payment operations sector in this bank, Dijana Zečević, due to suspicion of embezzlement by which the state company JP Aerodromi Crne Gore was damaged for 3.000.000 euros.
The indictment also includes the legal entity "Atlas Bank", which obtained an illegal financial gain of three million through the illegal business of Knežević, Nikolić and Zečević. According to the Special Prosecutor's Office, the former owner of Atlas Bank, Duško Knežević, is accused of inciting his employees Nikolić and Zečević to abuse their position in business operations, that is, to embezzle the funds of JP Aerodrom after the expiration of the deposit term.
"From the defense of the defendants Nikolić and Zečević, and the testimony of the witnesses Danil Orlandić, Vesna Ječmenica and Milica Ivanović, it indisputably follows that the deadline for the deposit in question expired on August 11, 2018, and that the injured company "Aerodromi Crne Gore" repeatedly demanded and gave instructions to return the said funds in the amount of 3.000.000 euros to the transaction account of the damaged company after the deadline. But that didn't happen," states the prosecutor in the explanation of the indictment.
