Stronger cooperation and an obviously better strategy are needed to prevent the smuggling of cigarettes from the Bar Port Free Zone, which happens continuously, said the president of the Board of Directors of Port Bar Slađana Perišić.
Perišić therefore initiated a meeting with the acting director of the Customs and Revenue Administration, Milena Petričević, and the director of the Police Administration, Zoran Brđanin, regarding the current situation and the disappearance of cigarettes from the Free Zone.
He points out that the Port of Bar, even though it has no jurisdiction in that area, is maliciously mentioned in the context of recent events.
"And that is one of the reasons why I scheduled this meeting, with the intention of getting answers from the authorities on how this problem will be solved," said Perišić.
He adds that the Free Zone was established by the Government of Montenegro and the jurisdiction over it rests with state bodies, including the Police Directorate, as well as the Revenue and Customs Administration.
"Stronger cooperation and an obviously better strategy are needed to prevent the smuggling of cigarettes from the Free Zone, which happens continuously," said Perišić.
The meeting is planned for Friday at 12 noon.
