Police officer DK (45) was arrested in the operation "Barlaj" on suspicion of facilitating the smuggling of cut tobacco from Albania, Vijesti has learned unofficially.
He was handcuffed today, and his colleagues suspect him of enabling the six arrested persons to transport cut tobacco across the customs line between Albania and Montenegro, in the town of Barlaj.
Three days ago, Tuzani Đ.J. was arrested in that action. (27), Đ.J. (26), VJ (41), NJ (33), Đ.J. (19) and N.Đ. (38), suspected of smuggling cut tobacco.
"In the continuation of the operation "Barlaj" carried out by the Podgorica police in cooperation with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, one more person was deprived of their liberty. As a reminder, during the implementation of this operation, on March 4, six persons were deprived of their liberty, of which four were custody for up to 30 days and they were taken to the UIKS," the Police Administration announced.
They state that DK is being charged with the criminal offense of abuse of official position for an extended period of time.
"It is suspected that for a long period of time in the Barlaj-Drume region, this person enabled persons suspected of smuggling cut tobacco to transport this substance without hindrance, avoiding customs control measures, across the customs line from the territory of the Republic of Albania to the territory of Montenegro. The suspect will the criminal complaint will be brought to the competent prosecutor," the police press release states.
