Thirty-six-year-old Milan Popović from Danilovgrad was arrested for stealing cigarettes from the warehouse of the Mojkovac company "Montenegro Duvan Komerc" in the Free Zone of Port Bar, "Vijesti" has learned.
He was handcuffed by members of the Anti-Crime Sector.
He is accused of being responsible for the theft of 238 packs of cigarettes, which caused damage to the state for around 225.000 euros.
"It is suspected that in the night between February 28 and March 1, he intentionally and according to a prior agreement with unknown persons came to the warehouse of the said company in the vicinity of Luka Bar and broke through the hangar door using a suitable means and stole 238 packs of cigarettes from inside." , it was announced from the Police Administration.
According to "Vijesti" information, after the theft, Popović drove the cigarettes to Danilovgrad and handed them over to a person whose identity has not yet been established.
"It is suspected that the MP then transported the stolen cigarettes by truck to Danilovgrad, where he handed them over to an unknown person, and received an agreed monetary compensation for transporting the cigarettes," the police announced.
The State Prosecutor in the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bar has, as it is added, issued a decision for the Ministry of Justice on detention until the investigation before the competent judge for investigation.
"In addition, the Bar and Danilovgrad police, on the order of the competent investigative judge, searched the premises at two locations used by the Ministry of Justice. A small amount of pistol ammunition was found in Danilovgrad, which was reported to the state prosecutor, who ordered that criminal charges be filed against the Ministry of Justice due to suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of illegal possession of weapons and explosive substances. The officers of the Police Administration are taking measures and actions to determine all the facts of this event and to identify other perpetrators of the said criminal offense," the police statement concludes.
