Jovanović: Novović and I are here to prove with our work that no one is above the law

Acting Supreme State Prosecutor Maja Jovanović and Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović spoke at the premises of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica with the United States Ambassador to Montenegro Judi Reising Rajnke about the achieved results of the State Prosecutor's Organization and work priorities for the next period.

Rajnke, as announced by the Office of the Supreme State Prosecutor, congratulated Jovanović and Novović on their election to perform very important and responsible positions.

The Acting Director of the VDT assessed that the decisions of the Prosecutor's Council in the previous period and the election of the chief special prosecutor created preconditions for achieving concrete results in the fight against organized crime and high corruption.

"The chief special prosecutor and I agree that we are on a joint task, which implies that we prove and show every day with our work and actions that no one is above the law, that the law is equal for everyone and that the state prosecutor's offices carry out all measures and actions within their jurisdiction in accordance with the basic principles of independence and impartiality of the judiciary," said the acting VDT.

Jovanović thanked the US Embassy for its continuous support to the state prosecutor's organization. The interlocutors agreed that the successful cooperation so far will be continued in the future.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the Political-Economic Department at the Embassy, ​​Scott Pariš, advisor for political issues from the Political-Economic Section at the Embassy, ​​Zlatko Ivanović, legal advisor at the Embassy, ​​Ana Grgurević, and secretary at the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office, Maja Raspopović.
