Alleged members of the Bar branch of the Skaljar criminal clan Martin Janković (25) i Marko Perunicic were arrested yesterday in Bar, on suspicion of preparing the liquidation of members of a rival clan.
During the operation, the police used firearms, unsuccessfully trying to arrest one of the suspects.
According to Vijesti, Stefan Janković (27) escaped from them.
"As a warning sign, when the suspect started to run away, the policemen shot in the air," said the interlocutor from the top of the Police Directorate.
A source from the Police Directorate told "Vijesti" that the arrest of members of the clan he heads Jovo Đurović, prevented the commission of more serious crimes. However, they did not specify whose liquidation is ready, nor whether Đurović is on the list for arrest.
Đurović is the brother of the late Luka Đurović, who until his death was the leader of the strongest Bar clan.
The Police Administration has announced that yesterday, in the port city, acting on the orders of the competent state prosecutor's office, their officers conducted searches at several locations and arrested several people.
"One person whose apartment was searched ran away during the search. The police are taking intensive actions to locate and detain this person. "Further police-prosecutor actions and searches at other locations are in progress, and the public will be informed in a timely manner after the completion of these," the UP announced.
Sources from the security sector spoke differently about the reasons for the arrests yesterday. According to one version, the investigators were led to the members of the Bar clan by the transcripts of messages exchanged through the encrypted SKY application, and according to the other, the information was provided to the investigators by one of the members of that criminal group.
That information has not been officially confirmed by the Police Administration.
The Janković brothers have been marked as persons of interest in the police records for years. Before the murder of Baranin Alan Kožara, were reputed to be people of his trust.
Stefan Janković was arrested a few years ago for extortion. His brother Martin was tried on charges that, as a minor, he tried to kill a fellow citizen in Bar in 2015 Petar Popović. In 2018, the police found an arsenal of weapons, optical sights, hand-held radios, a bayonet and explosives in the house used by the two. The armored Audi A8 and three other four-wheelers were also temporarily taken from them.
Allegedly, they were shot at in August 2019 on Ada Bojana, but that case was never solved.
