The judge of the Budva Misdemeanor Court, Herceg Novi Department, Andrija Vojvodić, imposed a 60-day prison sentence on Bjelopolje ZA (37) for insulting, threatening and physically assaulting an extramarital spouse, as well as a six-month restraining order.
"According to the report filed that the defendant ZA (37) from Bijelo Polje with a temporary residence in Herceg Novi committed domestic violence on the night of June 28, members of the Police Administration - Herceg Novi Security Center deprived the defendant of his liberty in the early hours of the morning today. He was taken into custody today before the duty judge of the Division in Herceg Novi. After the urgent procedure in which his guilt was established beyond dispute, judge Andrija Vojvodić sentenced the defendant ZA to prison for 60 (sixty) days (which is prescribed by the positive legal regulations of Montenegro as the maximum penalty for a violation of the Law on Protection from Violence in the family)", stated the President of the Court for Misdemeanors in Budva, Marko Đukanović.
As he added, during the proceedings, it was established that the defendant first insulted his common-law wife MD in the evening, after which he threatened to kill her.
"Then he gave her several blows in the area of the head and shoulders while holding a kitchen wooden board in his hand. Due to the danger that the defendant will repeat the violence against the injured party, it was decided that he should immediately be sent to the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions in Spuz to serve his prison sentence. The defendant was also ordered to restrain the injured party for six months," said Đukanović.
