Tuzanin Mustafa Kajošević (60) was sentenced to one year in prison on charges that on January 13, while driving a car under the influence of alcohol, he hit and seriously injured a border policeman with a "golf" Ljub Popović (30), while he was on duty.
He will not go to prison unless he commits a criminal offense in the next two years, because the court has set such a period for the review of the sentence.
"Regarding the criminal case summoning Mustafa Kajošević for the criminal offense of serious crimes against public traffic safety, the suspect was given a suspended sentence by the first-instance verdict, which established a prison sentence of one year, with a two-year probationary period," the head of the Elementary School told Vijestima. of the State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica Dusko Milanović.
Kajošević admitted in the courtroom of the Basic Court in Podgorica that on January 13, on the local road Tuzi - Donji Milješ, while driving a "golf" under the influence of alcohol, he seriously injured a policeman who was controlling another vehicle.
His defense attorney, a lawyer Damir Lekic, told Vijesti that the XNUMX-year-old accepted guilt at the main hearing, expressed deep remorse and made a firm promise not to repeat the mistake.
"He explained that on that day he got a new baby - a grandson, that it was a celebration and that he gave himself a little break. He also said that he did not notice the policeman who was moving on the road, but also that he was sorry for the accident, that he regretted it and that he wished it had never happened," said lawyer Lekić.
Explaining that the verdict has become final, he said that traffic accidents can happen to any road user.
"The most important thing is that the injured policeman is fine, and my client and I wish him the health he had before the accident," said Lekić.

Popović was found to have a fractured skull, a broken leg and he had bleeding on the brain.
The doctors of the Clinical Center in Podgorica, where he was hospitalized for almost two months, managed to save his life.
